PORQUE PORTUGAL PRECISA DA SUA PRÓPRIA MOEDA E DE UM POVO ARMADO PARA DEFENDER A SUA ECONOMIA, LIBERTADE E CULTURA

1. PORTUGAL: AS LIÇÕES ERRADAS DO PASSADO

A história de Portugal é longa, rica e fascinante. Uma que foi tão mal distorcida quanto qualquer outra e pelas mesmas razões – poder. Sempre que os governos corrompem a educação, eles reescrevem a história para justificar a tributação, a redistribuição, a burocracia e, por meio delas, a abolição gradual dos direitos humanos. Há apenas três direitos humanos essenciais: Vida, Liberdade e Propriedade. Todos os outros direitos ou não são direitos, ou são meramente consequentes desses três. O direito ao trabalho, à moradia, aos cuidados de saúde? Não são direitos, mas recompensas que o indivíduo diligente e inteligente trabalha voluntariamente para alcançar. Qualquer coisa que exija o esforço de si mesmo ou a redistribuição da propriedade de outras pessoas simplesmente não é um direito. Esses direitos humanos básicos foram ignorados e violados em Portugal inúmeras vezes, especialmente durante suas ocupações pelos Romanos (218 a.C. – 411 d.C.) e mais tarde pelos Muçulmanos (711 – 1249). Hoje, Portugal enfrenta um problema semelhante: opressão. Portugal mais uma vez não é um país soberano, mas um sujeito infeliz a um poder estrangeiro supremo que determina as políticas judiciais, executivas e econômicas de Portugal, a UE. Mais uma vez, a vontade do povo é completamente ignorada, os portugueses não têm voz em nenhum assunto relevante, desde a moeda até o controle de fronteiras, da tributação aos cuidados de saúde. Como isso aconteceu? Reconhecendo os perigos de destacar pontos singulares da história, argumentaríamos que os desenvolvimentos do século XX são chave aqui. Após o conservador Salazar chegar ao poder, ele declarou o “Estado Novo” e, por um tempo, isso funcionou razoavelmente bem. Enquanto a Europa, a Rússia e a maioria das outras partes do mundo lutavam em confrontos ideológicos entre a violência socialista em ascensão e os tradicionalistas que se opunham a eles, levando a duas guerras mundiais entrelaçadas que criaram um Ocidente “democrático” e um Oriente socialista/comunista, Portugal ficou principalmente fora disso, cuidando de seus próprios assuntos. Os grandes exploradores e conquistadores dos séculos XV e XVI haviam perdido há muito seu poder e influência, a inovação e a tecnologia estagnaram e Portugal sentiu a ameaça da irrelevância. Os inícios de Salazar incluíam políticas econômicas sólidas, baixa tributação, aumento da educação visando oferecer igualdade de oportunidades. Mas quanto mais tempo Salazar permaneceu no poder, mais a corrupção infiltrou o Estado Novo. O nepotismo e a opressão de dissidentes se espalharam rapidamente, e o país carecia da inovação e motivação necessárias para a prosperidade. Salazar então cometeu seus dois erros mais devastadores: 1) as guerras coloniais¹ (1961 – 1974) e 2) a “industrialização” imposta pelo planejamento central que deveria modernizar Portugal e transformá-lo em uma potência econômica, mas em vez disso causou o êxodo rural² que ainda assombra e debilita Portugal hoje. Os fracassos de Salazar empoderaram a esquerda e, em 1974, a revolução socialista varreu o país, prometendo um Portugal muito melhor, internacional, de mãos dadas com seus vizinhos europeus e amigos mundiais, com liberdade de expressão e justiça social, com educação gratuita e sistema de bem-estar. Tendo já sequestrado universidades e academia, os socialistas garantiram que “a direita” fosse um amálgama de todas as coisas más, um caldeirão de Hitler, Mussolini, Salazar e Franco, removendo fatos incômodos como Hitler e Mussolini terem sido na verdade Socialistas e Anti-Capitalistas que “ajustaram” o socialismo com nacionalismo, daí “Socialismo Nacional”, ou que Stalin e Mao fizeram exatamente a mesma coisa, enquanto nem Salazar nem Franco da Espanha fizeram nada do tipo.

A partir de 1976, todo português sabia: ser de direita é vergonhoso, mau, atrasado, e o oposto é de esquerda. Direita é ruim, esquerda é boa, e o que não é esquerda é direita. Agora, cinco décadas de governos socialistas e social-democráticos ininterruptos depois, é óbvio que eles falharam tão mal quanto o Estado Novo e não oferecem solução. Dívida, desindustrialização e inflação aumentaram drasticamente, o êxodo rural de Portugal está pior do que nunca, a carga tributária está no máximo de todos os tempos, as taxas de natalidade despencaram e o sistema de bem-estar é insustentável. A lição real a ser aprendida teria sido muito diferente: Onde há excesso governamental, burocracia e dívida pública, há corrupção, redistribuição, roubo, sofrimento e violência – em última instância, guerra. Sem liberdade de expressão, sem liberdade, sem auto-responsabilidade, há sistemas cada vez mais totalitários fazendo o que quiserem. Esquerda e direita são sistemas paralelos que levam ao oposto da liberdade, o que significa escravidão. E é isso que a UE faz a todos os seus países membros – escravidão. Cidadãos da UE não têm direitos, nem voz, nem futuro, eles são escravos.

2. PORTUGAL: ZERO SOBERANIA

Os portugueses foram doutrinados para temer seu passado e nunca mais permitir outro Salazar. O que poderia ser discutivelmente aceitável, mas esse medo os levou a abraçar o uso de uma moeda determinada por estrangeiros que está brutalmente sobrealavancada e depreciada em cerca de 50-60% pela inflação. Desde sua introdução em 1999, o Euro perdeu 43% de valor, de acordo com o HICP da Eurostat³, mas na realidade estamos olhando para uma desvalorização ainda maior⁴. Todas as políticas relacionadas ao Euro são decididas pelo BCE, e de acordo com funcionários europeus que não são democraticamente eleitos. Os funcionários da UE que são eleitos são os MEPs impotentes, não os membros reais de decisão, o que levou o economista perspicaz Dr. Richard Werner a apontar as semelhanças desconcertantes da UE com a URSS⁵. Ambos planejadores centrais e ideólogos economicamente ignorantes, eles arruinaram a justiça, a cultura, a inovação e a riqueza por meio de opressão e violência. Políticas recentes da UE, como o DSA e a censura online, levaram à multa de €120 milhões⁶ imposta ao X (Twitter) e indiretamente à prisão do Dr. Rainer Fuellmich⁷, que foi – oficialmente – acusado de fraude. Os portugueses e residentes em Portugal não podem pagar mais de 3000 € em dinheiro (moeda legal!) e enfrentam a proibição de motores de combustão a partir de 2035. A burocracia portuguesa é lendária e ainda subestimada, abrir uma simples conta bancária requer uma infinidade de papéis e documentos e é simplesmente uma chicana, pois não previne lavagem de dinheiro, pedofilia, abuso de drogas ou quaisquer outros argumentos ridículos que os burocratas tiram do reto para justificar taxas e tributação abomináveis. As autoridades portuguesas simplesmente debitam das contas bancárias como acham conveniente, sem nem se dar ao trabalho de anunciar suas demandas. Ao mesmo tempo, os funcionários portugueses acumulam uma dívida colossal pela qual os portugueses respondem por gerações e sem serem consultados. Nenhum referendo sobre políticas de fronteiras, energia eólica e solar, ou limites regulatórios insanos para o empreendedorismo e produção e consumo privados. Abrir um novo café requer tecnologia de exaustão e instalações sanitárias que tornam o ROI impossível para pequenas e médias empresas. Empresas de construção são tão mal tributadas e super-reguladas que o país já está morrendo de escassez de mão de obra, encontrar um encanador ou carpinteiro é como ganhar na loteria desde o desastre da fraude COVID em Portugal. Tudo volta ao planejamento central, burocracia e corrupção utilizando o eixo Lisboa-Bruxelas, contornando a vontade do povo. Presos em dívida e enfrentando um colapso do sistema de pensões, saúde e bem-estar social, o povo português tem um inimigo muito real: seu próprio governo. Não Putin, não Trump, não as mudanças climáticas.

3. PORTUGAL: SOLUÇÕES

É fácil o suficiente apontar os erros e falhas, os defeitos e fracassos, mas não é tão fácil oferecer soluções práticas e viáveis. Por 150 anos, nos disseram as mesmas falácias da esquerda, acumulando em seu único credo: tribute os ricos, deixe um governo forte consertar tudo. Que mais de 50 vezes⁸ tais tentativas não apenas falharam espetacularmente, mas na verdade mataram e empobreceram centenas de milhões de pessoas não abalaria nossos mestres acadêmicos, guerreiros da justiça social e progressistas desinformados que simplesmente não progridem. O lado tradicionalista e conservador não contra-argumenta com muita inovação ou insight, apenas tentando manter o status quo e, assim, cometendo os mesmos erros, mas mais devagar. Mas assumir que ninguém mais pode oferecer soluções também seria totalmente errado: há um bom número de empiristas que mostraram insights particularmente claros, entre eles von Mises, Hayek, Rothbard e Hoppe. Precisamos entender que no momento em que o governo interfere nos mercados, os mecanismos econômicos são distorcidos e sua característica mais impressionante – a auto-organização – é sufocada. Nenhum cérebro humano pode regular de forma tão inteligente e rápida quanto os mercados se organizam. Nós, humanos, podemos desenvolver uma habilidade impressionante para bilhar ou sinuca, mas nunca podemos compreender todos os detalhes, sutilezas, consequências e impactos mútuos de múltiplos fatores dentro e derivados da gravidade. Os mercados são como a gravidade, reagindo e ajustando instantaneamente em uma complexidade que não temos capacidade para gerenciar. Talvez eventualmente, utilizando computação quântica, IA altamente avançada e outras tecnologias que ainda não desenvolvemos. Os humanos precisam isolar, o que significa limitar a realidade, para gerenciar e direcionar com sucesso. Tributação, tarifas, subsídios, leis trabalhistas, salários mínimos, moedas fiat, dívida pública, etc. são todas interferências que distorcem os mercados, suprimem sinais de preço e colocam a produção e a inovação em grave desvantagem, redistribuindo riqueza daqueles que a ganharam para os parasitas que a regulam. A solução é, portanto, manter “esquerda e direita” longe de posições de poder, reduzir o governo de forma consistente, mas não da noite para o dia, até que eventualmente o governo possa ser abolido completamente. Militares, saúde, polícia, jurisdição, energia, tudo pode ser produzido e desenvolvido de forma mais eficiente pela empresa privada, mas requer mercados verdadeiramente livres, para que nenhum monopólio se forme (o que requer regulamentações que um mercado livre previne). Com isso, estamos no território de Hoppe, e muito longe da realidade de hoje… então, para chegar lá, um pequeno país como Portugal precisa abraçar um partido como o Chega, que no momento é o único partido disposto a fechar as fronteiras de Portugal à imigração ilegal, a reduzir significativamente a burocracia e os impostos, e a permitir que os cidadãos portugueses obtenham as armas para defender sua vida, liberdade e propriedade. Portugal tem que deixar a UE, permitir uma competição de moedas (o que significa que qualquer coisa que as partes comerciais concordem é justa, seja ouro, criptomoedas, USD, EUR ou conchas) e incentivar cada lar a ter e treinar com armas de fogo. Uma vez que um partido como o Chega tenha estabelecido com sucesso os limites necessários à burocracia e libertado o empreendedorismo, o governo pode ser ainda mais reduzido e eventualmente abandonado.

1. PORTUGAL: THE WRONG LESSONS FROM THE PAST

Portugal’s history is a long, rich and fascinating one. One that has been as badly distorted as any other and for the same reasons – power. Whenever governments corrupt education, they rewrite history to justify taxation, redistribution, bureaucracy, and through them, the gradual abolition of human rights. There are only three essential human rights: Life, Liberty and Property. All other rights are either not rights, or merely consequential to those three. The right to work, housing, health care? Not rights but rewards that the diligent and intelligent individual works voluntarily to achieve. Anything that requires the effort of oneself or the redistribution of other people’s property is simply not a right. These basic human rights have been ignored and violated in Portugal countless times, especially under its occupations by the Romans (218 BC – 411 AD) and later the Muslims (711 – 1249). Today Portugal faces a similar problem, oppression. Portugal is once again not a sovereign country but a hapless subject to a supreme foreign power that determines Portugal’s judicial, executive and economic policies, the EU. Once again, the will of the people is completely ignored, the Portuguese have no say in any relevant matter, from currency to border control, from taxation to health care. How did that happen? Acknowledging the dangers of pointing out singular points of history, we would argue the developments of the 20th century are key herein. After the conservative Salazar came to power, he declared the “Estado Novo” and for a while that worked rather well. While Europe, Russia and most other parts of the world battled in ideological clashes between the rising socialist violence and traditionalists opposing them, leading to two intertwined world wars that created a “democratic” West and a socialist/communist East, Portugal stayed mainly out of it, minding its own business. The great explorers and conquerors of the 15th and 16th century had long lost their power and influence, innovation and technology stalled and Portugal felt the threat of irrelevance. Salazar’s beginnings included sound economic policies, low taxation, increased education aiming at offering equal opportunity. But the longer Salazar was in power, the more corruption infiltrated the Estado Novo. Nepotism and oppression of dissidents spread fast, and the country lacked the innovation and motivation that is needed for prosperity. Salazar then committed his two most devastating errors: 1) the colonial wars⁹ (1961 – 1974) and 2) the central planning enforced “industrialization” that was supposed to modernize Portugal and turn it into an economic powerhouse but instead caused the rural exodus¹⁰ that still haunts and debilitates Portugal today. Salazar’s failures empowered the left and in 1974 the socialist revolution swept across the country, promising a much better Portugal, international, hand in hand with its European neighbors and worldwide friends, with freedom of speech and social justice, with free education and welfare system. Having hijacked universities and academia already, the socialists made sure to make “the right” as an amalgam of all things evil, a melting pot of Hitler, Mussolini, Salazar and Franco, removing annoying facts like Hitler and Mussolini actually having been Socialists and Anti-Capitalists that “fine-tuned” socialism with nationalism, hence “National Socialism”, or that Stalin and Mao did the exact same thing, while neither Salazar nor Spain’s Franco did anything of the sort.

From 1976 on, every Portuguese knew: being right-wing is shameful, evil, backwards, and the opposite is left-wing. Right is bad, left is good, and what isn’t left is right. Now, five decades of uninterrupted socialist and social-democratic governments later, it is obvious that they failed just as badly as the Estado Novo and offer no solution. Debt, deindustrialization and inflation rose sharply, Portugal’s rural exodus is worse than ever, tax burden is at an all time high, birthrates plummeted and the welfare system is unsustainable. The real lesson to learn would have been a very different one: Where there is governmental overreach, bureaucracy and public debt, there is corruption, redistribution, theft, suffering and violence – ultimately war. Without freedom of speech, without liberty, without self-responsibility, there are increasingly totalitarian systems doing as they please. Left and right are parallel systems that lead to the opposite of freedom, which means slavery. And that is what the EU does to all of its member countries – slavery. EU citizens have no rights, no voice and no future, they are slaves.

2. PORTUGAL: ZERO SOVEREINTY

The Portuguese have been indoctrinated to be frightened of their past and never again allow another Salazar. Which might arguably be acceptable, but this fear led them to embrace the use of a foreign- determined currency that is brutally over-leveraged and decayed about 50-60% through inflation. Since its introduction in 1999 the Euro lost 43% in value, according to Eurostat HICP¹¹, but in reality we are looking at an even higher devaluation¹². All policies regarding the Euro are decided by the ECB, and in accordance with European officials that are not democratically elected. The EU officials that are elected are the powerless MEPs, not the actual decision members, which prompted the insightful economist Dr. Richard Werner to point out the baffling similarities of the EU with the USSR¹³. Both central planners and economically clueless ideologues, they ruined justice, culture, innovation and wealth through oppression and violence. Recent EU policies, like DSA and online censorship have led to the €120 million fine¹⁴ slapped on X (Twitter) and indirectly to the incarceration of Dr. Rainer Fuellmich¹⁵, who was – officially – accused of fraud. The Portuguese and Portuguese residents are not allowed to pay over 3000 € in cash (legal tender!) and face a prohibition of combustible engines from 2035 on. The Portuguese bureaucracy is legendary and yet still underrated, opening a simple bank account requires a myriad of papers and documents and is simply chicanery as it doesn’t prevent money laundering, pedophilia, drug abuse or whatever else ridiculous arguments the bureaucrats pull out of their rectum to justify abhorrent fees and taxation. The Portuguese authorities simply deduct from bank accounts as they see fit, without even bothering to announce their demands. At the same time, Portuguese officials pile up a colossal debt that the Portuguese vouch for over generations and without being asked. No referenda on border policies, wind and solar energy, or insane regulatory limits for entrepreneurship and private production and consumption. Opening a new cafe requires exhaust technology and sanitary facilities that make ROI impossible for small and middle-sized businesses. Construction companies are so badly taxed and over-regulated that the country is dying from a labor shortage already, finding a plumber or carpenter is like winning the lottery since Portugal’s COVID scam disaster. It all comes back to central planning, bureaucracy and corruption utilizing the Lisbon-Brussels axis, circumventing the will of the people. Deadlocked in debt and facing a crashing pension, healthcare and social welfare system, the Portuguese people have one very real enemy: its own government. Not Putin, not Trump, not climate change.

3. PORTUGAL: SOLUTIONS

It is easy enough to point out the mistakes and errors, the flaws and failures but it is not as easy to offer practical and feasible solutions. For 150 years, we have been told the same fallacies from the left, accumulating in their one credo: tax the rich, let a strong government fix it all. That over 50 times¹⁶ such attempts have not just spectacularly failed but actually killed and impoverished hundreds of millions of people wouldn’t faze our academic masterminds, social justice warriors and clueless progressives that just won’t progress. The traditionalist and conservative side doesn’t counter with much innovation or insight either, just trying to keep the status quo and thereby making the same mistakes but slower. But to assume nobody else can offer solutions either would be utterly wrong: there is a fair number of empiricists that have shown particularly clear insights, among them von Mises, Hayek, Rothbard and Hoppe. We need to understand that the very moment government interferes with markets, the economic mechanisms are distorted and their most impressive feature – self-organization – is stifled. No human brain can regulate as smart and fast as markets organize themselves. We humans can develop an impressive knack for billiards or snooker, but we can never comprehend all the details, intricacies, consequences and mutual impacts of multiple factors within and deriving from gravity. Markets are like gravity, reacting and adjusting instantly in a complexity we don’t have the capacity to manage. Maybe eventually, utilizing quantum computing, highly advanced AI and further technologies we still haven’t developed. Humans need to isolate, meaning limit reality, in order to successfully manage and direct. Taxation, tariffs, subsidies, labor laws, minimum wages, fiat currencies, public debt, etc. are all interferences that distort markets, suppress price signals and put production and innovation at a severe disadvantage, redistributing wealth from those who earned it to the parasites that regulate it. The solution is therefore to keep “left and right” away from positions of power, to reduce government consistently but not overnight, until eventually government can be abolished altogether. Military, health care, police, jurisdiction, energy, all can be produced and developed more efficiently by private enterprise but it requires truly free markets, so that no monopolies can form (which requires regulations a free market prevents). With that we are in Hoppe territory, and a far cry from today’s reality…so, to get there a small country like Portugal needs to embrace a party like Chega, which at the moment is the only party willing to close Portugal’s borders to illegal immigration, to meaningfully reduce bureaucracy and taxes, and to allow Portuguese citizens to get the weaponry to defend their life, liberty and property. Portugal has to leave the EU, allow a competition of currencies (meaning whatever trading parties agree upon is fair, be it gold, cryptocurrencies, USD, EUR or seashells) and encourage every household to have and train with firearms. Once a party like Chega has successfully established the necessary boundaries to bureaucracy and freed entrepreneurship, government can be further reduced and eventually abandoned.
